Resources that Won’t Run Out
As our population increases each day, so does our demand for power. Renewable energy sources are a crucial part of planning for our energy needs today and into the future.
Your local Touchstone Energy Cooperative is exploring new ways to harness the natural power of our environment and convert it into affordable, efficient energy that won’t run out.
- Wind power uses the strength of our prairie winds to power homes.
- Hydroelectric dams provide flood control and generate electricity.
- Biomass energy generates energy to fuel our ag economy.
Renewable Energy and your Electric Bill
In 2005, your local Touchstone Energy Cooperative set a renewable energy goal – generating 10% of your electricity from renewable energy sources by 2010. We’re proud to say Touchstone Energy Cooperatives have met this goal in eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota.
Over 30% of our power supply comes from renewable resources including wind, waste heat recovery and hydroelectric power generated from dams on the Missouri River.
